Description/Remarks

PEL2002 Agnus Dei is a serene, lyrical setting of the text with unusual harmonies and the unique ‘voice’ of soprano saxophone.  Originally composed as an instrumental duet for soprano saxophone and organ, this work was originally titled 'Winter's Dream', inspired by the season. The original instrumental version is available as PEL7002.

Sanctus and Benedictus PEL2024 is the companion piece to this Agnus Dei.

On Sunday 9/16 (2001), I played a recital at Grace Cathedral on the subject of sorrow and healing ~ all NY composers.  I did Paul’s Anthem (still have the original he transcribed for me at a Winter Solstice Concert, transcribed during intermission!).  Of the 900 people present, many spoke to me of how much that piece meant to them.  Paul’s magic and artistry continue to inspire." - Jonathan Dimmock

Agnus Dei

Agnus Dei,
qui tollis peccata mundi,
miserere nobis.

Agnus Dei,
qui tollis peccata mundi,
miserere nobis.

Agnus Dei,
qui tollis peccata mundi,
dona nobis pacem.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,
you take away the sins of the world,
grant us peace.
