Description/Remarks
PEL2006 Wondrous Love is a magnificent and powerful setting of the
American folk hymn. With brass accompaniment and tympani, it becomes the
perfect anthem for Easter Day, or for concert performance. Opening with
the three verses a cappella and in organum, the strength, simplicity,
and energetic rawness of the original folk hymn is evident. Then, brass
and organ sound a fanfare which opens the door to a whole new realm of
glory and harmony in which this magnificent text, with its message of
resurrection, is set. The uplifting joy and majesty of this piece
is present to the end.

memorial tribute given to Shaw in Atlanta shortly after his passing,
